The boat landing at Puerto Princesa Underground River is the departure point for paddle-boat trips into the cave near Sabang, Palawan. The underground river runs for 8.2 kilometres through limestone before reaching the sea, with tides influencing its lower reaches. The surrounding national park became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. Its protected habitats extend from mountain forests to the coast, while the cave supports bats and swiftlets.
