These grounds form part of Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. Founded in 1904 during American colonial rule, the settlement initially received prisoners from Bilibid Prison in Manila. Its rehabilitation system developed around practical work, including agriculture, fishing, forestry and carpentry. Iwahig remains a correctional institution with a history closely linked to farming and vocational training.
